I just finished reading “The Sticking Point Solution” by Jay Abraham.
This man is an absolute wizard and is widely regarded as America's highest-paid marketing consultant.
The book was written during the financial crisis of 2008 but is obviously very relevant right now.
Here’s my #1 insight from this book that’s super applicable to Medical Spas:
In the book Jay states that the biggest problem for small to medium-sized businesses can be summed up in three sentences:
1. They’re not strategic
2. They’re not analytical
3. They’re not systematic
Is this you?
Well, let me ask you this...
When you closed doors due to COVID-19, did you feel a strange sense of relief?
… Relief that you no longer had to “put out fires”?
… Relief that you could finally “step away from it all” and just breathe?
I hate to say it but that relief was that result of you accidentally escaping the clutches of a business that was running YOU.
And you’re definitely not alone…
This is just a reality for most local business owners because they don’t spend enough time analysing, strategizing, and systematizing.
In other words, they’re stuck in a self-perpetuating spiral of working IN their business, instead of ON it.
Before long, your business has you in its grips because you spend all your time fixing the SAME problems, leaving you no room to set up the systems to ensure they never happen again.
Call me crazy but I think this virus has been a bit of a blessing because it’s allowed entrepreneurs across the globe to finally slip free of the very thing that was supposed to give them freedom in the first place.
So what’s the lesson here?
Use this sacred time wisely because it really is a blessing in disguise.
Personally, I’ve been radically taking stock of everything I do.
I’ve even gone so far as to document how I spend my day in 30-minute increments so I have an objective view of where my time is going.
The goal is to minimize “low value” activities like answering email, other admin work, watching Netflix etc.. and maximize “high value” activities like creating systems, building marketing campaigns, strategizing, getting exercise and so on.
Next, my team and I have been radically improving our systems, creating in-depth procedures so anyone “off the street” can theoretically come aboard and understand what’s going on.
The goal here is to bring your business out of your head and onto paper, so you can automate/outsource the things you hate and do more of what you LOVE.
For you, maybe you just want to serve your patients at the highest level without having to worry about where the next one is coming from.
Or maybe you love sales and just want to close treatment packages all day then not worry about what happens next.
Or maybe you want to remove yourself from day-to-day operations altogether, and simply be the architect of an efficient, elegant, hyper-profitable clinic that runs itself.
Whatever your vision is, NOW is the time to put in the work to make it happen.
… And it all starts with being strategic, analytical, and systematic.
